Every measurement below is for our Kids Not a Fishing Shirt Dress (UPF50+), in centimetres. Our dress is a slim fit and runs small — we recommend sizing up.

All measurements are in centimetres. Age is an estimate only — always go by the measurements, not your child's age. Standard manufacturing tolerances of ±1–2 cm apply.

How to measure your child's size at home

Our chart uses half measurements — the garment measured flat, not around your child:

  1. Lay a dress they already wear happily flat on a table, done up.
  2. Measure straight across from armpit to armpit. That's the 1/2 chest.
  3. Measure from the top of the shoulder down to the hem. That's the length — this tells you where it will sit on the leg.
  4. Match to the chart above, and size up for a relaxed fit.

Frequently asked sizing questions

Does the kids' fishing shirt dress run small?
Yes — it's a slim fit with a smaller size run. We recommend sizing up, especially if you want it to last more than one season.

Where will the dress sit on my child?
That depends on the length measurement above and your child's height. As a guide, a size 8 is 67 cm from shoulder to hem and a size 14 is 90 cm.

Can she swim in it?
Yes — quick-dry fabric made for saltwater and beach days. Rinse after salt or chlorine.

Will the UPF50+ sun protection wash out?
No. It's woven into the fibres, not sprayed on.
