How We Found Wakiti Creek Resort
Sometimes the best campsites are the ones recommended by other camping families.
Wakiti Creek Resort was actually suggested by mums in our Mums Who Caravan and Camp Facebook community, and after hearing so many great reviews we decided it was the perfect place to host one of our MWCAC school holiday camps.
Safe to say… we were not disappointed.
Our winter camp turned out to be an unforgettable week filled with new friendships, adventure and plenty of laughs.
Our MWCAC Winter Camp Crew
This trip brought together an incredible group of families.
We had:
• 14 mums
• 3 dads
• 23 kids
• 2 dogs
• 1 very curious cat
It might sound like organised chaos, but that’s actually the magic of group camping.
Kids make friends instantly, parents get time to relax around the fire, and everyone leaves with memories that last long after the trip is over.
Why Wakiti Creek Is Perfect for Group Camping
One of the things we loved most about Wakiti Creek Resort was the space.
There’s plenty of room for caravans, campers and tents, which makes it ideal for families travelling together.
Some of the things our community loved most:
• Huge open grassy areas for kids to play
• Plenty of space for larger caravans
• Relaxed and welcoming atmosphere
• Campfires at night
• Perfect setup for group camping
Watching new families meet and become fast friends is one of the most rewarding parts of hosting these camps.
Highlights From Our Stay
Horse Riding at Billabong Ranch
One of the biggest highlights for the kids was visiting Billabong Ranch, which is just a short drive from Wakiti Creek Resort.
The kids absolutely loved exploring the trails on horseback.
Billabong Ranch offers:
• Horse trail rides
• Lead horse rides for younger children
• Animal feeding
• Mini golf
• Plenty of family-friendly activities
They also serve great coffee and hot food, which was very welcome after a morning of adventure.
Disco Night at Camp
Yes… we had a disco night.
Glow sticks came out, the music was pumping and there were plenty of dance-offs happening.
It was one of those nights filled with laughter, questionable dance moves and kids having the time of their lives.
Safe to say it will definitely happen again at our next camp.
Potluck Dinner Around the Fire
Our potluck dinner night was another highlight.
Everyone brought along a dish to share and the variety of food was incredible.
We had everything from homemade curries to sweet treats, and plenty of snacks for the kids.
There’s something special about sharing food around a campfire that brings everyone together.
A Day Trip to Echuca
We also took a short road trip to Echuca, which is a beautiful historic town nearby.
The day included:
• A horse and carriage ride
• Lunch at the Grand Hotel
• Exploring the Echuca Visitor Information Centre
• A free treasure hunt for the kids
It was the perfect little adventure away from camp.
The Hospitality at Wakiti Creek Resort
A huge thank you to the team at Wakiti Creek Resort for looking after us so well during our stay.
They went above and beyond to make sure our group had everything we needed, from helping organise our camp spots to assisting with activities for the kids.
The welcoming atmosphere made the whole experience even better.
Best Time to Visit Wakiti Creek
Victoria offers great camping most of the year, but Wakiti Creek is particularly lovely during:
• Spring
• Early summer
• Autumn
The days are usually comfortable for outdoor activities, while evenings are perfect for sitting around a campfire.
Our winter camp was a blast, and let me tell you, each one just keeps getting bigger and better! This time, we gathered an awesome crew for a memorable week filled with new friendships, laughter, and heaps of fun. Let’s just say, the MWCAC community is growing, and it’s heartwarming to see so many faces, new and familiar, joining in on the adventure.
With 14 Mums, 3 Dads, 23 kids, 2 dogs, and a cat, it was definitely a full house, but one thing’s for sure — there’s no better way to bond than with the beautiful chaos of a group style camp!
Here are the highlights:
New Friendships & Community Vibes:
One of the best parts about these camps is the sense of connection that’s built. Watching new faces meet, mingle, and become fast friends is what makes this community so special. The friendships made during this camp will definitely last a lifetime!
Billabong Ranch:
The kids had an absolute blast exploring the trails on horseback at Billabong Ranch, and it’s a must-visit for any family heading to the area! In addition to the trail rides, they offer lead horse rides for younger children, so everyone can get in on the action. The fun doesn’t stop there – the ranch also has animal feeding, mini golf, and a range of activities that kept everyone entertained. To top it off, they serve up top-notch coffee and delicious hot food, making it the perfect spot to fuel up and unwind after a day of adventure.
Disco Night:
Oh yes, we had a disco night! There were glow sticks, funky beats, dance offs and it was so much FUN! A night full of smiles, laughter, and some questionable dance moves (we won’t name names, but let’s just say, we can't wait for the next).
Potluck Dinner & Campfire Platters:
As always, our potluck night was a hit! Everyone brought their A-game when it came to cooking, and the variety of food was seriously impressive. From amazing curries to sweet treats, it was a feast fit for royalty. The campfire platters were the perfect way to connect with food around the fire.
Pub Lunch at Echuca:
We had to take a little road trip to Echuca for our horse and carriage ride, lunch and maybe a sneaky glass of wine fireside at the Grand Hotel. It was the perfect way to recharge, have a laugh, and take in some local history. Plus, the kids loved stretching their legs as they explored the Visitor information centre entertained with a free treasure hunt.
The Hospitality at Wakiti Creek Resort:
A huge shout-out to the team at the park for looking after us so well, thank you! They went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed, from the best camp spots to organizing activities for the kids. It truly made our stay a memorable one, and we’ll definitely be coming back!
In short, no one wanted to leave. The week flew by, but it’s safe to say we all left with our hearts full, new memories, and new friends.
Can’t wait for the next camp — these moments are what make this community so amazing. If you missed this one, don’t worry, there are more adventures to come. Stay tuned, and we hope to see you at the next one!
